Both platforms offer fantastic assets and content to make great animations. However, they do differ slightly from each other in terms of extras and variety.
Asset library
Both platforms offer an impressive range of character and prop images that can bring your content to life.
Doodly’s offering depends on the pricing package you select. With the Standard option, you get access to 1,164 characters and 1,620 props, whilst with Enterprise you get 3,959 and 3,341 respectively.
Videoscribe on the other hand offers a selection of over 7,300 characters and props, all of which come as standard regardless of the selected package.
In Videoscribe colour images come as standard on all packages, whilst in Doodly there is a one-off fee of $67 to access those assets.
One of the benefits of the Enterprise package is that you get access to extra images every month, whilst in Videoscribe you need to fork out extra cash to get access to new assets. As a result, we think in this aspect both platforms are even.

Doodly has a selection of 5 background options, consisting of Whiteboard, Greenboard, Glassboard, Chalkboard, and Custom. The latter allows you to upload your own image or colour as a background.
Videoscribe on the other hand offers 9 background options. However, unlike Doodly, these are more different textures and shades of white and grey, as opposed to tangibly different backgrounds.
As a result, Doodly offers more flexibility and variety for your animation.

The Doodly platform offers a selection of hand options, consisting of 62 real hands, 59 2D cartoon hands and 12 3D cartoon hands.
In Videoscribe you can choose from 13 hand styles, each with different features, resulting in a whopping total of 312 hand options. There are two other categories, one where you can choose to only feature a pen and a seasonal option that has fun Halloween hands.
Although it may seem that Videoscribe is the winner in terms of the number of styles, the lack of variation is a hindering factor. All 312 options are real hands, which is perfect if that’s your style, but will cause problems if you’re looking to change things up or produce different types of animation.
